Our Journey Begins: Discovering Treviso and Its Waterways Afternoon: Let’s meet in Treviso! As soon as you arrive, we’ll dive straight into the heart of what many call 'Little Venice'. Treviso is a city literally built on water, born from the embrace of the Sile and Botteniga rivers—two waterways so special that even Dante Alighieri felt compelled to mention them in his Divine Comedy. Since they are spring-fed rivers, they maintain the exact same water level and temperature all year round. This was a true blessing for the locals, who built a rich history around these waters filled with ancient mills, river trade, and, last but not least, the legendary Radicchio Rosso (Red Radicchio).
We’ll take a beautiful guided walk and, step by step, discover its most charming spots: We’ll pass by Ponte Dante and the Latin Quarter, where history meets university life. We’ll head towards the lively Isola della Pescheria (Fish Market Island) and the picture-perfect views of the Buranelli canal (get your cameras ready!).
We’ll visit Piazza Duomo with its ancient Canoniche (Canons' Houses) and I’ll show you the Roman Road Gallery. We’ll stop by the quirky Fontana delle Tette ( Fountain of the Breasts) yes, it has a hilarious history that I’ll tell you all about on the spot! before walking down Calmaggiore, Treviso’s main shopping street. We’ll end on a high note in the elegant Piazza dei Signori, pausing to admire the impressive Palazzo dei Trecento.
Breakfast at the hotel and departure by boat from Tronchetto to the splendid St. Mark's Square. Arrival in St. Mark's Square and tour of the heart of the city. Here, the group can admire some of the world's most famous monuments: the majestic St. Mark's Basilica with its golden mosaics, the Bell Tower (Campanile), the Doge's Palace (the ancient seat of power of the Most Serene Republic), and the charming Bridge of Sighs. Lunch at leisure (Free time for lunch).
Early Afternoon: Walk towards Rialto The itinerary continues on foot through Venice's characteristic calli (narrow streets) and bridges, following the signs toward Rialto. You will be able to admire the world-famous Rialto Bridge and the stunning view over the Grand Canal. Afterward, the group will have some free time for shopping, buying souvenirs (such as Murano glass or Carnival masks), or enjoying a romantic gondola ride.
Return by boat to Tronchetto The group will meet at the designated embarkation point in St. Mark's (or near Rialto) and board the boat for the return trip to Tronchetto. Meet the coach and depart for the return to the hotel. Time available to freshen up and relax in your rooms. Evening: Dinner at the hotel and overnight stay.
Villa Pisani (Stra): Breakfast at the hotel and departure. The group boards the coach and heads towards the Riviera del Brenta for a guided tour of the "Queen of Venetian Villas." You will admire Tiepolo's monumental fresco, the doge's rooms, and its spectacular park featuring the famous hedge maze.
Villa Widmann (Mira): A stop at this jewel of the late Venetian Baroque. Enjoy a visit to the frescoed Ballroom, the barchessa (colonnaded wing) with its historic carriage collection, and the romantic garden.
Lunch in a Riviera Villa (Dolo): Lunch in the historic rooms of an elegant 19th-century villa, featuring a dedicated menu. Late afternoon: Return.
